Fairy, mealtimes when I was a child featured in depth discussion about animals' bodily functions, particularly the state of their bowels or oestrus, then total silence for the Weather Forecast. No wonder OH used to find my table-talk a bit disconcerting when we were first together
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
There's just time to sneak in here before I have to make tea... of course, the sun is now shining, after a "mixed" day. The forecast promises it'll be dry tomorrow, which is good news for the lawn.
Your talk of poems you remember (and other things you don't!) rings bells with me. Most of the poems I know all the way through have been set to music, so I remember the words because I remember the tune. Lots of bits of Shakespeare have stuck though... not sure if I can remember the whole of "The quality of mercy is not strained" speech... won't bore you with it anyway...
On the theme of "things we forget", I changed over the money in my purse from euros to sterling when we got to Northern Ireland, and put the euro notes in a Very Safe Place so nobody could pinch them. I found them, finally, 24 hours after we got home...
It was bliss in our holiday let in Donegal. There was no internet access, and a very "iffy" mobile signal only available upstairs on the landing. We played games, read, knitted, ate too much, and laughed a lot.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Your holiday sounds lovely Liri. We had Internet in Norfolk but only OH's iPad when travelling and often an iffy signal.
Haven't had time to post photos yet. Expecting families any minute. The spiders have been very busy while we were away, don't think the housesitter could have noticed!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Yes, BL, it was a wonderful week - we don't often spend time with both our children (and their other halves & offspring) at the same time, so it was very special.

Dug up all my potatoes rather sooner than I had hoped . Main crops had blight, second earlies were being eaten by something - probably a rat . Managed to get a decent harvest, anyway. Will have to spend some time at the weekend trying to find the hole there must be in the fence before he starts on my parsnips.
I don't live far from Hostafan, so have the same problem with grass. Haven't been able to cut most of it for the last 3 weekends. I'm hoping for a let up in the 'showers' this weekend long enough to get round with the big mower.
Glad you had a good holiday, Liri. Happy Anniversary, Wonky. I gather Robert Hardy has died? I loved both the books and the TV series All Creatures Great and Small, though I have to agree Siegfried as he played him wasn't very like the one in the book. Great actor though and still very watchable.
Did you see Chris Beardshaw extolling the virtues of hostas on Beechgrove this week?

Endless 'holding of horse/pony's heads' for vet'n'ry attention round the nether regions has possibly scarred me for life!

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Afternoon all. Not really around much at the moment; it's all work and play and no sleep.
Good to know that play is included Clari
