Well done to the youngest Chicklet (how many are there, btw? ) and to everyone else getting exam results today.
Yvie - will keep everything crossed for good news tomorrow.
Hope the sickly people feel better today.
Cold and wet here, so I think I'll make some passata with the small but (for me) quietly impressive tomato glut I seem to have built up. Got about 2kg of ripe toms, which is roughly 1.75kg more than I've ever had before.
Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon

Yvie - sending big ((hugs)) and positive thoughts from here too
Thanks everyone - soooooo happy. Raisingirl - there are two Chicklets - Chicklet ? and littlest Chicklet ?. Should really change my name to Mother Hen ? but it doesn't have the same ring to it ?
They finally managed to finish combining the field at the bottom of my garden yesterday evening having started on the 1st August. Just as well because it's raining again this morning.
Congrats to littlest chicklet and I hope all those who are suffering get well soon. I had a rotten cold a few weeks ago caught from my great gd who is 6 months old now so there's a lot of dribble. We are expecting a tooth imminently.
As you say Hosta, not wishing to stir up Brexit differences but a website I look at sometimes suggested that the new snake just discovered was actually Michael Gove
Many congrats to Chicklet the Younger. So glad she's got the place she wants at Uni too. It's tough for Mum to start with when they fly the nest, but don't worry, Chicky - she'll be back home with her dirty washing sooner than you know it...
On the day the results of Scottish Highers were due, all the post to the Isle of Lismore (where we have our cottage) was accidentally delivered to the Isle of Mull. Those expecting their results were not amused...
Someone on the radio was talking about the "hundred day cough" yesterday. There's a theory it's linked to the age of the sufferer, and is due to their decreased immunity to whooping cough; apparently the protective effect of the childhood vaccine wears off. Anyway, whatever the cause - hope yours relaxes its grip soon, Pat. LilyP, hope your eye improves too...
Hugs to you, Yvie. Thinking of you and Firstborn tomorrow. xx
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Congrats to Chicklet and her family. Hope the celebratory lunch is good.
We took Possum to La Rochelle - again - yesterday. It's her favourite place at the mo and this time we did touristy things and visited the Bunker museum - bomb shelter cellar dug out under a hotel by German occupational navy to sit out bomb raids. Packed with info including stuff on Vichy and Jews which always makes me cross and a memorial list for those shot, including 3 women added by another hand as the list was only men!, and those deported as slave labour. On a more cheerful note, it was sunny and we also visited the taller of the two towers guarding the entry to the old port.
Some shopping for Possum and she and I stayed on to have dinner by the old port and hope for sunset pics while OH went home to check his doggies before coming back to fetch us. I caught a bit of sun on my shoulders and have more pink bits than the sunset. Next time, we'll take one of the cruises that goes out into the bay and tours islands and other sites at sunset. It's a lovely town with a great atmosphere and fascinating people watching as the place is buzzing with locals, tourists, entertainers, street markets ........
Grey today but the wind has swung to the south so none of hoped for rain falling here after all. Hosta - need to send it here please. Too dry to garden so I'm on sewing again.
Have a good day everyone and get well soon, all those with lurgies.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I'm trying Doves advice and trying to drink more water. At least Hubby cooked dinner tonight - crumbed veal with pasta and a sauce he had made and frozen from my tomatoes and red Capsicum. I'm amazed that I could even eat it, but I lined up for seconds..
Lily P, Yvie's firstborn found a lump in her neck, she mentioned it on the Resurrected thread. I hope the scan results are OK and it's just a simple thing that can be removed. Hugs to you Yvie.
DD sent me an email. A TV company is sending a crew to Chateau de Gateau to interview ex Pats about Brexit.
I'm missing OH, he's back on Sunday. But there's lots of gardening to do now it's not raining.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi everyone. Been catching up and realised I haven't posted on here this week!
I am currently off work as been feeling faint, which culminated in a trip to A&E yesterday. It was all very embarrassing, as I work in the hospital, but I was seen straight away so grateful for that.
I have strict instructions to rest today so I'm looking forward to forecast sunny afternoon so I can sit outside and do just that. It's important just to sit and look at the garden sometimes, but I 'll have to keep the secateurs locked away to prevent unauthorised pottering!
Take care everybody- especially those with ails or worries.

Chicky, very pleased to hear that your daughter has done so well. You must be relieved.
i suspect your other one is experiencing similar weather conditions to us today.
