Hiya Dove, it's ok, not perfect, but not enough to worry the Doc over.

I know Pru Leith's credentials are superb, but my problem is, so does she.

She always seems a bit " up herself" compared with Mary Berry's ( equally well credentialed) more self deprecating style.

My daughter was raving about it and we normally agree on things , so I might record it next time . I hate the advert breaks in programmes.

There's beer and wine in fridge for our VIP guests' arrival.

    Devon.

Evening all - I had hoped the on/off sun would stay till I got home but it's cloudy and raining now. Hopefully just a shower...mainly because I can't be bothered bringing in the washing  image

GWRS - many of us watched Bake Off and really enjoyed it. image

I took a craving for chocolate mini rolls for a while - I wasn't pregnant, but I won't bore you with the reason! I thought they did well because I'd agree - who ever makes them at home ? image

Liri - my eldest had a little hole in her forehead, and I have a 'dent' on the side of my nose, but fortunately nothing more than that. ThSome of my spots were the size of my pinky nail and more like blisters. Every time I hear any parent saying they don't want their children to get it, I always think - better now than when they're older. It's horrible. Fortunately I had mumps as a child, so I was spared that one!

NannyB - August isn't regarded as a summer month in Scotland, hence our short growing season  image

Have a lovely time Dove. Hopefully Hosta will have some decent weather arranged for you, but I'm sure he can probably find you some woolly socks  image

I heard a great factoid on the radio today  - there are so many beaches in Australia that you could visit a different one every day for 20 years. image

Yes but you often have to walk miles to get to one, carrying all your gear - towels, parasol, picnic, bucket and spade etc - because they are just beaches.  No loos, no cafés, no shade and when you do go in the water you have to be careful about box jelly fish or sharks or waves too exciting for small people.   Beautiful tho - except for Bondi.

2 frocks finished and another altered.  Devoted mother or what?   Now to make dinner and, since it's cool, that'll be pork burgers with mustard and apple and sweet potato mash and broccoli.  No buns.

I hope all your packing is done Dove and you don't have to do an LP and re-pack.   Have a great time and if Hosta needs it, give him some earache!  And a hug.

Don't think Pru is up herself at all.  She's very practical and fair and just a tad more sophisticated in what she cooks than Mary Berry whom I also admire greatly but differently.  PS Hosta - life is too short to watch ads.  Definitely worth recording.

    .

When my daughter was very young, she had chicken pox. I told her that no matter where she itched, she could only scratch the spot on her ankle. It worked pretty well.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

I just scratched one chicken pox spot on the back of my head, in my hair, B3.  image

I agree, Fairy, that if it's a normal "childhood ailment" with no nasty side effects, it's good to get it over early.  And to vaccinate against everything else possible.  I worked with a lady who was profoundly deaf as a result of having measles aged 4; just not worth the risk, in my opinion - and the stories of damage caused by childhood vaccines don't hold water when they're properly investigated.

The sky is blue again, after rain midday.  Hope you take some dry weather down to the SW, Dove.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Wonky had chickenpox when she was very little  ... about 3 or 4 ... she had a grand total of three spots.  image  It was Wonky who gave them to me image

Same here Dove - older fairylet got it at the pre school nursery and gave it to me and littlest fairylet, who was about 18 months. She was still in nappies and it was pretty unpleasant for her, but she was very good about it. Nice of them to share eh? image

Liri - I agree with you about the vaccinations too. The fairly recent outbreaks of measles in areas where people were refusing to vaccinate was pretty horrific. I think many people  simply don't realise what effect these illnesses have, as we're so used to them not being around.

I know what  you mean about Prue Leith, but I thought she handled the whole thing very well. She was very fair and kind to the contestants. It was lovely.

My kind of beach Obelixx .... keeps all the tourists away  image  I just thought it was a lovely stat  image

Tray baked chicken and veg with roast wedges and courgettes for tea here. Nice and simple image

Think it's to be ok down your way Joyce, so fingers crossed it doesn't change. image

We're still trying to get the haylage cut at work - can't get four decent dry days in a row for it. image

Looking promising for a walk on Saturday too, so that's me happy, and hopefully it'll be good enough on Sunday to get some work done  in the garden. Friday's looking good too so I'll get out in the afternoon after work.

Hope your daughter is paying you well Obs - she's saving a fortune on clothes  image
