Hi all, been out and about all day with lots of bits and bobs to sort out.....I reckon Dove should have already arrived ......
Got to watch the 1st episode of GBBO C4 on Youtube ......not as bad as I thought it would be ......a little bit of Russian interest this year as well ......looks like the two contestants who got the doughy handshake are the ones to watch .....Steve and Flo I believe
I've missed the best part of the day being at work, but the heavy shower earlier has gone and I think the washing might be nearly dry again. Looking fairly good for the weekend too.
I loved the girl's Russian doll cake, Dacha. Really inventive. The showstoppers were tremendous - makes you wonder what they'll be like by the end!
Making steak pie for dinner - beef has been braising in the slow cooker all afternoon. I'd do it with venison, but youngest doesn't like it
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Normally I'd buy a big pack of beef, and then use it for a few things, but the main reason I'm doing a pie is because I had some pastry in the freezer which has now been replaced, so it's defrosted. Had to make something with it,although the birds might get some if it's a bit rubbish. Don't tell the girls....
Think we've been quite lucky here weatherwise - there was showers forecast for the whole afternoon. Glad you got the grass done - I was hoping to do mine, but I think the front is definitely a bit wet now. It must be at least two weeks since I cut it. Back is better drained, and a better aspect, so it might be ok.
I had lunch in Lochinver on Saturday and it was a 'pie shop' and a lovely little cafe/coffee shop. It seems quite famous, and I think they do mail order....
Just looked- Pies by Post is the mail order bit. Lochinver Larder is the cafe

Still sunny and dry here and 23C which is very comfy. Lots of cotton wool floating by to the north but none here. SM raid done and dusted for the next few days. Sweet potato and pea curry for dinner. Possum has asked for vegetarian. I've told OH that when I get back from taking her to Namur in 2 weeks' time we're having a mushroom feast. She doesn't like them.
FG - does youngest know it's venison if you don't tell her? I've been known to hide mushrooms by blitzing them in sauces or bakes.
Yvie - hope you're having a great time and soaking up lots of sun.
DL - I liked the Russian girl on GBBO. Her Siberian gran sounds good too.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Hosta, I won't tell Dove you were having a catnap!
Yvie the hotel looks very posh! Have a lovely time! Thank you Fairy for turning the picture round, if I turn my tablet round, the picture turns with it!
Pat, hope your staying snug and cosy, do we get to see your latest pictures?
Not too bad a day at work, renovating a deep park side flowerbed that has been ignored for years, nettles taller than me and I discovered a river that had been forgotten about beneath the nettles that had me stuck to the top of my wellies in mud!but then discovered a flat tyre on my car, luckily my bosses put the spare on while I weeded! think I owe them a bottle of something!
Friday tomorrow and another busy day at work, tempted to let the chippy cook dinner tonight!
Posts
It's easy for my iPad mini too Yvie. Lovely.

Grass man gave me eight hours help in garden today.
Ideal weather so between us got lots of pruning and planting done. He was up a ladder pruning.....something I can no longer do
No showers down here Fairy. Hope you got the washing dry.
It wouldn't take long for you to nip down with some steak pie
There isn't that big an amount Joyce- sorry
