I bought odds and ends of stationery and spent a fortune in Superdrug buying requisites for beautifying ourselves prior to our holiday and keeping ourselves clean while there, including new nail polish for toes ... Max Factor 'Diva Violet'
Also picked up some fennel bulbs from the market to have with pork chops tonight.
OH was in the city too, clothes shopping ... we met up at The Lamb Inn (a country pub with a beer garden right in the centre of the city) and sat outside and had a pint of Adnams bitter each and shared a plate of Nachos with all the bits and bobs. Later on a very good coffee and biscotti at Carluccio's then I got the bus home and OH came back on his bike.
Now I'll find out what you lot have been up to ........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'm sure most of us could do with a bit of titivating after a few hours in the garden. I very nearly bought a new nail varnish this pm but decided against as I always end up with similar shades to what I have. Don't bother with it on my finger nails any more anyway.
33C coming back from SM and it feels like a snug, warm blanket at the mo. I took a detour to Gifi and treated us to a new fuchsia pink parasol for the terrace table. The old one is very small and on its last legs. Had it 20 odd years tho so can't complain.
T'other pair have gone to the beach to surf and dog walk respectively so i'd better get on with dinner as they'll be famished when they get back and have had a shower.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I had lunch, gammon, runner beans, courgette, tomato (from garden) so I shall just have a glass of gazpacho tonight. No OH to cook for as he's in Norfolk.
Have been watering and dead heading. Meant to tie up some dahlias but it was hot outside, 30°. Did some housework instead this afternoon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just awaiting dinner here - chicken with peppers and onions and a cajun/tomato/yogurt sauce. Roast veg in the oven. Need something warming. Not even half that temp here BL, and chucking it down , as it has been for most of the day.
I'll read back later, if I can stay awake. Still don't feel 100%.
How is the foot Dove? I keep meaning to ask.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I've been to my favourite Leclerc and found chicken thighs, Limousin steaks, lamb belly and pork ribs and beef mince as BBQ weather seems to be setting in. They also had cocktail and then some smelly fried chicken. Smelly, in our household, denotes garlic, not off. As I was on my own with time to peruse at leisure, I found proper baking powder, 00 flour for making some pastas, wholegrain couscous and fusilli but no brown rice. Treated OH to a big fat Chaource too.

What've you got planned for dinner? We're having pork chops with braised fennel and new potatoes.

Just popped out for a wee spin in Worzle.
Chucking it down and the ground is so saturated, it's just runningoff the fields onto the roads to meet the already blocked drains.
