My dog's home . Thanks to all for the kind thoughts and well wishes. He's now 1/4 bionic and fast asleep in his pen. 6 weeks strict cage rest is going to be a challenge for a dog who is in to everything as a rule. But he's on his feet, albeit very lame, and eating again now he's home and being hand-fed his hand cooked food by his Mum (Clari will understand, anyway)

Dove.....that was probably her only source of heat for the winter....we have gas (now) and electricity , the wood fire adds additional heat when it gets below -10 and it is still very romantic for us ......many of the dachas around us are only the summer variety .
Hi all. We had a minus 8.7c this morning. It's been nice and sunny since, so it's very good if you can get away from the breeze, therefore, inside.
i must admit I'm envious of the lovely clean stack of firewood Dacha. Our wood is very messy and leaves bits of stuff all over the floor, bit at least it gives me a reason to get up off the couch and sweep it up fairly regularly.
cosmos is so gorgeous Liri. I miss having a snuggle pet, but that's the decision we've made and I'm sticking by it.

It wasn't that bad Lily.........see below
Fairy and Dove yep it's enough .......I've been doing it since my turf days in Dublin of old
Dacha ... glad that will last you ... maybe ex DIL's Baboushka had harder winters out there in the Urals?
She had a stack of firewood as big as her house!
Raisingirl ... so glad he's home ... best of luck for a good recovery.

Ah, of course Dacha ... you're absolutely right ... she even cooked on it ... or sometimes a paraffin stove.

Hooray, the painting is finished! Now the cat is telling me she's been Very Lonely All Day while I've been outside wielding a paintbrush.
My knees are rather warm.
Cat is very comfortable Liri.
Take time now to sit on the refurbished seat
