Impressed with Western Power Distribution who came in 25 minutes and have fixed said fuse. Less impressed with eon - rang them and 'the men' are now on another appointment so can't come back and finish the job so will have to arrange another day off..
Went to their website and, at the top, they have this:
"Our contact centre is currently experiencing long call wait times, we're sorry for any inconvenience the delays may have caused. We're working to resolve this as quickly as possible"
Tea now in cup though.
I'm all electric (no gas supply) which makes this sort of thing a big problem and an expensive way to live. Will be changing supplier as soon as they've fitted the new meter, just for the hell of it!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
We have always had a gas hob with leccy oven, just in case of power probs. In Belgium and here that means bottled gas as no mains to the sticks but still better than being dependent, given the flakiness of sub stations in thunder storms.
Busy - I like to go too but am always glad to be home and increasingly less likely to wander anywhere I can't drive. I like the independence.
Have a safe trip home Chicky. Bet she doesn't swap Hosta but feel free to wish your rain our way, just for a couple of days.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
No swapping - making the most of our last afternoon here Had a wonderful relaxing time, with sea ?♀️, lots of book reading ?, lovely nights out with great local food and wine, and great company (as well as Mr C, littlest chicklet has been on top form, and my sister is here with her family - diffferent hotel and complete coincidence, so we have met up a few times to give littlest chicklet a break from the oldies)
Hope Eon sort you out soon Bob - amazing how much we need leccy for these days
Good morning all. Hi Pat - keep warm and get well soon!
Never underestimate the placebo effect, Clari... my mum swore by some evil cough mixture or other, which I'm positive only worked because you HAD to get better or she'd give you some more of it.
It's raining. Hope the forecasters are right today though, because we have a U3A gardeners' group outing to Ripley Castle gardens near Ripon. It should be dryish while we're there. And there's a cafe...
Liri! My grandparents had some evil thick black syrup that they'd give you if you coughed. Oh it was nasty. I used to hide my head under a pillow if I had to cough in case they heard me and had to give me more of it. Granddad would give you a fruit boiled sweet to "take the taste away" but I think it just made the glup linger.
Might get a portable gas hob - I can already think of uses for it as well as a 'just in case' for the future. Apparently there is only 5% reserve capacity in the electricity supply in the UK, so any kind of major issue and we could be in trouble. Can't do without tea!

I've actually seen a computer programme that shows live time the supply and demand for electricity; it's really very fascinating watching stations come online to cope with demand.

We certainly got "better" quickly!
Having been the other side of the inspection pit the only thing I fear is that I could do it better (and cheaper).
Glad you're sorted Bob; I have to say I was so grateful for the gas hob when we had no electricity for days at a time.
Like Obs, we have gas ( bottled ) hob on our electric cooker. Hubby can deal with electric over, but not the hob.

Bob: no one should live without tea.
