    It looks like it may be a type of ladybird larva, possibly the twenty-four spot.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • It is not a ladybird, it is much too big. Definitely lepidotera.

    How big was it? Parsnip moth is similar but not that hairy I don't think.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    My insect of the day is a tiny unidentified coleoptera, lost in an ocean of pink. Approx. 2-3 mm long, maybe of the Chrysomelidae family?

    Thanks @Fran IOM  We are normally very excited when the first Water Lilly flowers each year, however it was over-shadowed by our first ever Newt!  We could hardly contain ourselves.  I'll post a photo as soon as I can get a decent shot of it.  It was hiding under one of the Lily pads today.
