I didn't manage a photograph but a bit of excitement in the garden as one of my wish-lists turned up — a ruby-tailed wasp. The bricks on my garage are somewhat potted and so I often see bees and wasps checking out the holes, today it was the turn of a Ruby-tailed and I was able to spot it from some distance thanks to the bright colours.
k you, that’s exactly what it is! Seems to be a pest though, so maybe it’s not such great news for my plants 😄
I get quite a few dock bugs on my raspberries at that stage and I've never noticed much damage. I think they're fairly low key as pests go but I guess no one minds if they nibble a few docks to death.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Lucky enough to grab a couple of images of a dragonfly around our pond today, which I assume was laying eggs? I don't know much about dragonflies, but I think this is either an emperor or southern hawker? It was big, anyway - dwarfing a damselfly nearby.
