My first Cockchafer  :D I literally heard of these for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and now here one is in my garden.  I was slightly alarmed by its size!  Let's just ignore the Sawfly infestation ugh.

@Crazybeelady Great shot! I haven't seen a cockchafer in ages. They used to be very common when I was young (ages ago ;)). Pity they don't feed on sawflies.

I thought/hoped initially it was planning on eating the sawfly @Papi Jo! But no, evidently not.

I saw my first actual rose sawfly yesterday, instead of just the damage.

My garden is heaving with them - loads of them around doing it!  Making sure they've got lots of eggs to scrape into my rose bush grrr.

I've yet to see one in my garden :(
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Sorry @wild edges but I had one in my garden this week too!  You get some good stuff too though!
  • They obviously like Cistus!
