I was out planting the last of my onion sets yesterday and the broad beans were buzzing with normal buff tailed bumble bees but also some big all black ones. Not seen those before but very welcome sight.

Some giant, early bees here in the last couple of days, as we've had some very welcome, and much needed, sun. Lovely to see them. I watched one on the window sill for ages, carefully cleaning itself. I didn't want to go and get the camera, as I knew he'd probably fly away as soon as I moved!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
