"my daughter Wonky has a new job and carpal tunnel syndrome so at the moment is restring her wrists and hardly posts at all "
My 40 year old son has been diagnosed with this ...all the surgery options have been explained to him ....he has decided not to do the surgery and do some therapy instead . I sort of feel guilty as I bought him his first computer game when he was 6 years old....I still blame all these freaking gaming sticks. There is no history in our family of this so I have to surmise it is a "new generation" ailment!
Dachalover ... Wonky started getting symptoms when in an IT job ... she now has her dream job as a gardener on a beautiful country estate but the CTS is still very painful ... her GP has prescribed splints to sleep in and she can have steroid injections ... her father had CTS badly at her age (he was a builder) and the injections really really helped him ... I hope they work for Wonky.
I hope your son can get some relief .......... it's a horrible condition.

Dove, I hope so too....it's amazing that we don't even know about these ailments until a loved one is stricken by them ......we lead a very blinkered life sometimes
My aunt, who was a legal secretary using old fashioned typewriters that you really had to hammer at the keys, was so incapacitated by CTS towards the end of her life that she couldn't even feed herself... but she refused any sort of treatment.
A woman I know had both her wrists operated on at the same time ... she was a keen gardener (the sort who opened her garden to the public) and didn't want to miss more than one season in the garden by having them done at different times ........ she said that her husband had to do absolutely everything for her while they healed, but it was worth it as her garden didn't get too out of hand and she never had any more problems with the CTS

Dacha - the foibles of a misguided man are usually far more interesting than those of a well guided one
Haven't read back yet, so no idea what you've been discussing. Forum seemed to be on the blink this morning, and I was outside at lunchtime and when I got back from work. Seemed daft not to take advantage of the lovely day as it was actually very warm and pleasant .
Saw this little bird as I walked back out of the glen on Sunday. Wasn't sure if the photos were going to turn out ok, but they weren't bad. Not one I'm familiar with, so I looked it up and I think it's a Stonechat. He was singing his little heart out on top of the emerging pines and clumps of heather
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Clari, my (2nd) hubbby has worked with the design dept of various high spec cars. He modelled the rear end of the Bentley Flying Spur amongst other things. (the full size prototype model not dinky car size) They use Autoglym. Should cost around £20 for a set from Halfords.
Anything else just a rip off.
As a newly married 20 something year old, I started ironing my first husbands shirts." I don't have them like that "he said ( with a crease down the arm) "My mum irons them one way, then turns them so it is like a tube with no creases."
" Heres the Iron," said I, "Get on with it." I had a full time job too.

If you read this thread and enjoy, and fancy saying something then you should. I'm sure the boys would like another Y chromosome?
(Posted before I saw your reply - so glad you chatting on).
