Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. I'm very tired now after a full family day and lots (too much) of food. So after this TV program, I'm off to bed. We double 7 people need their rest.image

will catch up more tomorrow when Hubby and son go to town.

Glad you've had a good day Pat - and will be able to rest tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Pat (I think it still will be for you!)

Much fresher today - almost thinking I could do to put a cardi on - then I see it's still 23C in the shade. 10C less than it as been for the last few days - but still pleasantly warm. Amazing how quickly we get used to the hotter temps. Have done quite a few of the jobs I'd been putting off until it was cooler - including ir**ning.

Still no rain thoughimage A bit of thunder and black skies and about 20 fat heavy drops  - the garden is wiltingimage

Hi Topbird image  We had a proper thunder and lightning storm and about two minutes of stair rods this morning, but since then ....... nothing .......... that won't have filled the butts

I even put washing out on the line in the hope of enticing it to rain. No luck so far image

raisingirl,  I have three loads of washing blowing in the breeze so the rain can hold off until bedtime.

Hi Dove - OH has just phoned to say he's just got back to Norwich airport and there are proper puddles and everything. Maybe they weren't kidding when they talked about 'localised' showersimage

It's quite breezy here now and I've still got all the windows open and I'm about to hang out some washing - and some bu$$er has just lit a bonfire....

Too far away to fill the house with smoke but the smell is pretty strongimage Is it just me who thinks it's incredibly irresponsible to light a fire when all the vegetation around here is dried to a crisp and the wind has picked up?? If a few sparks start flying around....image

No, not just you, Topbird.  Some people have no imagination... or no sense of responsibility.  image

DD, how exciting to have everything coming together at last for the Chateau.  image  Hope things fall into place now, and the opening is a great success - you deserve it after all your hard work.

There's no accounting for some people's stupidity Topbird image

It keeps looking here as if we're going to get some more rain ...... but nothing happens ...........
