Morning all. It will be another scorcher here. I wish it would rain.

Going for X Rays of knee, hip and spine this afternoon. The agony of the trapped nerve has gone, but I have back ache.

Must go and pick raspberries before it gets too hot. Surprised there is such a good crop in this heat.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Interesting programme on More4 last night about people with sleeping problems which a few here might be interested in. Seems something as simple as sleep is actually quite complex.

Sleeping well at the mo with either nothing or just the duvet cover over us.   We've put the picnic quilto on the floor so the dogs can stretch out to sleep and the kittens have taken to windowsills in front of open windows to sleep.  They were very hungry this morning after two days of just licking the juice and not eating the chunks.

A bit cooler today after a misty start but still much hotter than June should be.   Another coat of paint and then weeding for me.   OH is going to dig out a bed in the potager so I can get the red onions in and the sweetcorn.  He can use his rotavator so not too hot making.   Dance class will be interesting this evening.   We'll need a towel!

Clari - try Boots one-a-day allergy pills.  No sleepies.   Is he pregnant or not!!!

Busy - hope the X-rays and scans lead to some help.  I had cortisone injections in my lumbar spine to ease 3 slipped discs and resultant trapped nerves.  Still working 15 years later tho I do get a dull ache if I overdo things and know then to rest and stretch.

Best wishes to all who are crook or feeling low.   Happy gardening for those who can - great therapy for all sorts of things.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all - happy birthday Pat!

I've allowed myself a few minutes on here, reward for having caught up with post, emails, washing, lawn mowing, emergency weeding and visiting Mum, after our holiday.  image

Sorry to hear your OH was in hospital Joyce.  Hope he's soon settled now he's back at home.

Clari, I have the same reaction to anti-histamines containing - I think - cetirizine hydrochloride.  But as Obelixx says, you can get non-drowsy ones containing (from memory) loratadine.  They're not quite so effective at stopping huge red lumps when mozzies bite, but aren't bad, and at least you don't walk round like a zombie for hours.

Wonky, it's great you're still enjoying your job.  image

LilyP, hope the hospital have got the meds right for your eyes, finally.  Allergies are a pain... my sister, who's well over 27, had an allergic reaction to penicillin a few weeks ago, having taken it with no problems up to that point.  Odd.

Punkdoc, I'm sure others are right - your CBT should be available in a less threatening environment.  Fingers crossed the sessions are helpful.

Hosta, this one's for you... though if this law applied here as well as in Finland, you'd be many pounds worse off!  "Cats may only roam freely in their owner's yard or garden.  A cat is regarded as a stray or abandoned unless it is under the control and direct supervision of the owner or a carer."

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Quick pop in between shifts. Hello all. image

I have a million things to do, all very important, but everytime I go to the new house I see the possibility of a long flower bed and ideas of planting schemes keep filling my head - I really should just let it go for now but it is so inspiring. I am definitely with the idea of GBT, I think the last few months have been all the more difficult because of the lack of opportunities to garden. image

OK, back to work - writing flowery descriptions for my menu. image

Have a good day all. image

Oh Pat!!!  Many very happy returns of the day ... I hope your birthday is absolutely splendid!!! image

The pergola has arrived image image

An extremely strapping image Polish? lad with a large cauliflower ear (looked like a rugby player) insisted on carrying it into the back garden despite it having been impressed on us that it would be 'kerbside drop off only'. He then detached the packet of bolts and told me to take them indoors as rain is forecast. image

Now he's on his way to Ipswich to install some garden furniture ...... he said he left Northampton a couple of hours ago .... today is an easy day apparently.

The fish has been poached and eggs have been boiled and are cooling ... a parsley sauce has been made and potatoes have been steamed and mashed.  All will be assembled when it's cool.

Just before the pergola arrived I had a bit of a kitchen mishap ... I moved the salad spinner on the draining board and dislodged two dinner plates ......... we have a hard ceramic tiled floor image image I've swept up but can't vacuum as the vac is upstairs so out of my permitted area of operation at the moment image As we have another 14 of those large plain white plates I won't get upset about it image

We've also just had a 'lively' storm ... the golf club fired off a 'lightning warning' maroon earlier .... they fired the all clear just now, and the sun is shining again.
