imageimageimageIt's been a success. We went for lunch today, Tuesday, it opened on Saturday. I hadn't realised there would be so much on offer, starting with a full English Breakfast, sandwiches, salads, scones cakes, desserts. Also teas, coffees, soft drinks, wine (wasn't expecting that!) etc.

DD had decorated it beautifully, pictures on the walls, pretty tableclothes, vases of flowers, but we sat outside on the terrace. There were 2 big white sails on solid looking white painted metal supports, providing good shade and pretty, square, glass tables.

I had a chicken Caesar salad with a glass of rosé and OH had a ploughman's with Stilton (rarely seen here), Cheddar, salad, pickle and a big slice of pork pie (never seen here) with a glass of red. Then he had Earl Grey and I had Yorkshire tea with a slice of moist fruit cake. Yum.

Then we had a look around the town, I'd never been into the old part. I usually take the bypass on my way to somewhere else - it leads to the motorway to go north.

2 photos of the old town and a photo of Chateau de Gateau.

Brilliant DD and Charlie. Your plans are all coming to fruition at last. I wish I could be there to see and taste it all. Congrats.

Lovely to read a first-hand report BL, it makes me want to go and see for myself.  The menu sounds amazing, DD should be very proud of herself and Charlie.
