I love them -  they flit about constantly at this time of year, although when I was on the hill further down the road last summer, I was treated to loads of the youngsters darting around with some adults, and then  sitting on the deer fence - just chillin'.   image

There was around thirty of them at least. I watched them for ages. Happy days image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Just been watching a sparrow feed a young 'un.  The baby sat on a branch about 18" away from the feeder and mum had to keep darting back and forth those few inches to feed it.  I kept thinking "surely it'll get the idea in a minute!" but it didn't happen. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

And doesn't watching the  birds make a pleasant change from all the depressing news every day! image

We watched a little sparrow being fed by an adult at the last house. They were both quite happy sitting a few feet away on the patio image

Do you by it online Dove?

I did BM, but we had a couple of dodgy bags, where the sunflower hearts were sent in loose woven sacks and had obviously been left for sometime out in the rain and become sodden wet - probably the delivery company ... within a few days the sunflower hearts had all stuck together and started to go mouldy.  I got my money back promptly but it's left me wary.

The last couple of bags I bought from the local garden centre when they had a big price reduction on ...... they've got a 20% off sale coming up so I'll get some more then.
