"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple", the poem says. It's a long time since I worried whether I looked fashionable or not... nobody's going to tell ME what to wear. If it's comfortable and I like it, I wear it...
Some people are never middle aged, BM - you wear what you want, girl!
Your scented border sounds fab, Obelixx. Currently the plant which is scenting my garden is Narcissus poeticus recurvus, pheasant's eye daffodil. It's gorgeous now the wind has dropped a bit, and the scent is hanging around more.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Don't want to worry you any further Hosta - but some people have had real problems with smart meters not working correctly too!
How about The Beano, LP
I've been enjoying the last of the Cheerfulness daffs Liri. It's been the main advantage of the ever present winds recently!
Your new project sounds lovely Obelixx. Hope you can keep the wind at bay to get everything established
Went out to cut all the grass and found a dead baby blackbird. It's buried beside the adult male I found a while ago. No prizes for guessing what caused that.
Off to put my feet up now that I've done all my chores.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Keep us posted Hosta. We are having opposite problem as OH switched our supplier last year and then despite three times giving them readings they didn't send us a bill for almost a year! They then sent one which OH nearly fainted at! I thought it was ok seeing we hadn't had one in a year! Anyway he couldn't make head nor tail of their readings and we ended up paying 400 and they have forgotten about us again
Liri you're so kind! Think it's because my OH is bit younger than me and you know what they say. You are as young as you feel so that makes me 31 4 years older than all you guys
LP have you read any Harlen Coben or Michael Connelly, they are fab! If you get into them try and read in order as some characters run through them
Smiling at Beaus and Liriodendron's comments about what not to wear - reminds me of the Victoria Wood line "they look comfy" about sandals! My Mum and I always said that if we saw shoes that weren't particularly trendy but we liked!
As for the Smart Meter... we trialled one once and it's a fab 'game' to see which appliances use the most energy. Let's just say - the tumble drier is not used much these days!
Good night all - off to bed but going to iPlayer Amazing Hotels about the Ice Hotel in Sweden.
Are you sure you want one? I wouldn't have one! All it is is a gadget that will be put in the cupboard and forgotten about after a while, just a gimmick. I send an online reading in monthly, they produce an instant bill, monthly, if I'm paying too much the money is instantly dropped, if I've used more, the money goes up. I'm very pleased with mine.

Their introduction is set to cost consumers £11bn, but studies show they cut energy consumption by 3% or less – so why is the UK spending so much on rolling out “smart” electricity and gas meters?
That is the question some commentators are asking after it emerged that a key element of the behind-the-scenes infrastructure has been delayed again.
This week the government revealed that, so far, around 3.3m first-generation smart meters have been installed in UK homes. The plan, now looking increasingly ambitious, is that by the end of 2020 around 53m will be fitted in more than 30m homes and businesses. The predicted cost is around £200 for each meter replaced – ie, more than £400 for many households – a sum borne by consumers through increased bills.
For those of you who have so far missed this revolution, smart meters are set to replace every conventional gas and electricity meter in the country. They use wireless technology to allow the energy company to read the meter remotely, and the government has a manifesto commitment to ensure that every home and business is offered one – although you don’t have to say yes.
However, if you’ve already had a smart meter fitted, the bad news is that in many cases if you subsequently switch supplier it could lose all its “smartness” and become just like the perfectly good meter it replaced.
This is just one of the conclusions of a House of Commons science and technology committee report issued last month that expressed reservations about the way the meters and the necessary infrastructure are being implemented.

I'll have the smart meter fitted next Wednesday, then I can see what being consumed, "live" as it were.
Would be lovely if you put a thread up of your work Obelixx

Good morning everyone. Another cold start to a mild sunny day, here. Been to the doc - bp 120/60 and no sign of diabetes, so she's pleased with me.
Celebrated with a McDonald's mcflurry with broken Easter egg on top.
Rather good though.
ill read back later.
