All excited at seeing a bit of dampness in the garden after the rain I slept through last night I sped up to the potager and planted 20 onion sets but the soil was still rock hard and so the rest and the shallots will have to wait till we get more rain.

Looks like a good gardening day today in Bristol.  I popped out and planted three more pansy plants, two yellow buds and one purple.  Having plants at different stages of development should ensure i have pansies in flower for many months. As I had £25 premium bond bonus this month and won £10 from a gardening magazine i splashed out on some things for the garden online .  they may come today.

    "Free" plants, Marion, nothing better!

We had rain overnight but only enough to dampen the surface of the soil......more rain needed.

I am getting worried about the bees.  Whereabouts are they this year.  i have a raised bed in the potager full of broad bean plants with lots of flowers all needing pollinated but they are not being so and that is after being careful to have lots of flowering plants to bring in the pollinators.

Marion, we have had lots of bees and bumble bees for the last two weeks around all the blossom.

You, too, have lots of blossom but I think our temperatures have been higher.

Well if the bees have been suffering from thirst they will not be now as we had a fair amount of rain oernight by the look of my containers which were all dry yesterday but collected quite a bit of rainwater overnight.  It is now dry  and sunny so looks like a good gardening day ahead.

Marion, is that a bridge over a stream in your garden?
