Too hot to put the cooker on for fresh scones so popped to the shops so my visitors can still have them - will have to be a Devonshire cream tea as it says devonshire scones on the packets!  They couldd not have picked a better day!

The visitors brought the summer with them.  We al enjoyed ourselves and they went home clutching a pot of parsley for their kitchen - suits everyone as some live in flats without gardens.

Here are the flowers the visitors remarked on which i do not give a second look to normally being so used to them every year!

Is the top white fluffy one a Thalictrum, Marion?

I see you go for the naturalistic look too.imageimage I have just spent an hour pulling out nettles before they seed. It doesn't cure them , but it slows them up a bit. I have other priorities. The beans need to have the veg patch dug over and canes put up.

Yes that is Thalictrum aquilegifolium the white flower.  The bought scones were very good.  It is lovely to have visitors on such a good day.  They remembered having tea in the lounge last year when it was so wet when they came!    I think they were very surprised to hear an 88 year old tell them of her plan to replant her yellow flowered rhododendron in the autumn next to her purple flowered one as they would look so good together.  But then every gardener's motto should be "Live every day as if it is your last but garden as if you will live forever"

That's a great motto, Marion.  image
