  • Hello Marion. I have some of the orange flowering plant in my garden, but I have no idea what it is. Do you know the name?

It is a native (or weed) but so pretty i keep some every  year.  I will look it up for you.

Linda the orange flower is Orange Hawkweed or Hieracium.

  • Thanks Marion...I thought that it may be a weed, it pops up everywhere in my front garden, but it is easy to pull out. I agree that it is pretty, it is such a vibrant orange colour!image

Its common name is "Fox and Cubs" - presumably because of its colour.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

And if you look into the flowerhead there is usually an open flower (Fox) and several buds(cubs).

Ho Marion they are gorgeous! image, what is the plant in the first picture called?

Thalictrum aquilegiafolium.  Its leaves are just like those of Granny's Bonnets but the flowers are quite different   I have them in white and pink.  Back of border plant as they grow quite tall..
