Very exciting Yvie. Perhaps it'll surprise you and open. That would be lovely
I've moved my little lily as it wasn't getting enough sun. It has a tiny pond of it's own now - in a container
I've replaced it with water hawthorn - which is opening now. I've still to plant it properly, but I only got it a few days ago. Had it in a previous pond and it's scented, and good for shadier areas.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I have a new leaf and a dead leaf on my Lily. Do I need to remove the dead leaves? If so, I'm thinking of spanning the pond with a builders plank and edging my way across. When it was new, I got in it but it's at the green, murky, slimy new pond stage at the moment urgh!
They all go through that stage Cloggie. They settle down as long as you get the balance of planting right, but the warming up in spring affects them until the surface cover starts to grow.
I don't think you need to worry too much about the odd dead leaf

Me too! I can't believe how recently you created your pond, Yvie - it looks as if it's been there for years...
Looks fantastic Yvie
Hope the frogs all go on slug patrol of an evening ......they need to earn their keep
Hi folks latest update on the pond. I have a bud on the water lily. Wasn't expecting it to flower in the first year. So very excited.
Not sure if it will open as we aren't getting any sun and it's getting late in the season

It would be great if it opened, Yvie - but at the very least it's promise of things to come...
Lovely water hawthorn, Fairy!

Did yours go through the murky green stage Yvie or is that a pump I spot in one of the photos?

Thanks Fairy, I'm a fretful new pond Mum at the mo
If you get a lot of dead leaves it will add to the murk, of course, but I agree with Fairy - the odd one doesn't matter.
