Pat, they come here from Scandinavia in the winter to feed on the wild berries in the hedgerows and gardens. Some years they come in huge flocks called 'irruptions' ... they have a lovely tinkling call and are absolutely beautiful.

Wonky - Snooker of course! There's been a special offer running here at my favourite SM - Karl Lagerfeld dressing gowns for silly money so I bought 2 each of grey and pink for our future guests to use and save on weight on cheap air flights. I still prefer a kaftan and need a new one which will probably be purple, or at least lilac.
I have been good and dusted downstairs ready for OH to get home and go round with his bloody Dyson. The robot is wonderful for a tidy every other day but doesn't do nooks and crannies for a deep clean. Thing is, I can now potter with seeds and treasures all afternoon.
They do open air opera using the chateau at La Hulpe as the backdrop every August so, for several years, I went with friends to give it a go. Gave up after the 4th one. My ears and brain are just not wired that way.

I suspect GW was short 'cos they had to find room for the Japanese Springwatch ... it was such a glorious programme I'll forgive them
Back from a quick dash into the city on the bus to get the right size knitting needles ... I thought I'd got every size known to knitting-kind; I have my own, plus Ma's plus Granny's ........... but I didn't have a pair of size 6s .... I do now.
There was a man on the bus with a Donald Trump hairstyle do you think it'll become a trend?
Right, now I have to drink coffee, put a chicken carcass in the slowcooker to turn into stock, start a chilli con carne off as OH came back from work with some free minced beef which had reached it's sell by date, then hopefully I can get on with pricking out the seedlings that I was going to do the other day when the car broke down and I was stuck in a car park waiting for the Green Flag man.
It's been one of those weeks ...........

Thanks Dove. I've never seen them before. I love hearing and seeing the birds here too.
Morning all, evening Pat. Lovely spot for HRH but you look like you are in for a stormy night! Hope you get some rain with the noise!
sat on terrace in purple dressing gown with first coffee, just about forming words and waking.
Sad picture Dove, but the happy news is that that picture has identified the new bird that has been visiting me!
Glad you enjoyed the opera Hosta and good luck with car instructions BusyL!

DD, don't be disheartened, new and improved presentation will wow, I'm sure x
Anyone's now why GW was only 30mins again and none next week? Really BL**DY shoddy of the BBC!
Rant over, second coffee calling!
I haven't seen a waxwing in real life either, that I know of.
Morning all. Crikey, you were up early, Daisy! I would have gone back to bed.
Glad you enjoyed the opera, Hosta. I love opera. Ballet too. Used to go when I met first OH and we worked in London and had more money.
Sunny again. Cold frames to sort out and weeding of long border.

No waxwings here. Too far south?
