Lyn, if you're looking in, I don't have an iPad, occasionally I borrow OH's.

I re-started my Laptop, still have ads including TripAdvisor and something about Prince's father but I can type at the moment. That's the funny thing, sometimes it's OK, sometimes it isn't.

Been weeding and planting and edging this afternoon, quite stiff now.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I've never welded yet Liri but if I start making things with the thicker rods I may well give it a go.  I also have some peony supports made from the thinner grade wire and they have knobs at the end to protect eyes.  I buy them at Chelsea Flower Show for about £15 each but won't be going this year so if I need new ones I'll have to make them.

I'm sure your son would love some Eton Mess............

OH played in a golf competition at his new club today.  Won a prize - he gets to play in another comp at St Tropez, hotel paid for.  I asked if it allowed dogs.  Possum thinks she'd like to go in my place as she enjoyed her initiation today and thought the professional was "cute" as was OH's partner today - clean cut Irish chap training to be a Ryanair pilot.  I can see we're going to have to discuss ground rules for conversation at dinner and play times.  Can't bear golf post mortems.

  • I had a bit of doggie drama today. Was quite startled by heavy banging on the door, looked through the peephole and there was nothing there. Opened the door and there was a small elderly dog sat there looking suprised.  One of the neighbours recognised her as the last people who lived in this house's dog, and then a car pulled up with cheering children inside and a nice lady hurled herself out and burst into tears as the dog threw itself out of my arms and into hers.  She got lost on a walk and had toddled off back home to the wrong house.

A happy ending for the family and the dog image

    Happy ending then.  Good.

The day after we moved in here we had a very skinny but very friendly ginger cat banging on an upstairs window.  She scarpered when she saw the dogs but came back again and was very persistent about cuddles so I fed her - and fed her and fed her.   She was very happy in the house except for the dogs.

By day 3 I had the wit to phone the previous owner and she confirmed that their cat had gone missing a few days after they moved into their new place in mid July.   No idea how long it took her to travel the 5 or 6kms but she'd been living on rodents since and was skin and bone.    She was fat and sleek again by the time they came to fetch her at the end of the week and they were all in tears too - Mum, 18yr old daughter and two younger sons.

He would, Obelixx.  image  Still skinny at 38, with hollow legs...

Beware if you take up welding; it's very important to have all the protective gear.  Son had a visit to hospital a few years ago, because a tiny bit of molten metal burnt a hole in his eardrum.  He had a proper visor and gauntlets, but no ear protection.

The intention is to leave work pronto this evening so that we have time for a walk in the bluebell woods - lets see how that works out image

Morning Chicky. I'm glad I don't need to get up that early nowadays.image

weve had a clear sunny day, but low temp in the morning with fog, then up to about 20 I think.

winter is definitely on the way.

I took some photos in town today of the autumn colours. I'll put some on the camera thread.
