Yay!  Hello Clari image  We're surviving here, and have been thinking about you and sending positive vibes - it must be a bit tricky without leccy at home for so long.  I've just bought myself a solar power/wind up radio if that's any help?image

Hi Clari.  If it helps, we went for ceiling spots in the annexes.  makes for bright, efficient lighting and I can still hang a candle chandelier or fairy lights or both in the end annex if I want to pretty things up.  The near annex is pantry and boiler and boot room so stays practical.

In every other room in the house I find the central ceiling light fixture inadequate and there are no wall light fittings for ambiance so we're going to have to be creative with table lamps and standards and so on.

I'm off back to my painting now but yes - definitely plan a holiday if you can, even just afew days away so you can think about stuff like colours and furniture and curtains.    You'll need you batteries charged to get that all done.

Liri - got a grump when I pointed out my lovely crocuses.    Tough.  Done deal now.   He's away for 10 days at the end of March to go and play golf competitions in Belgium and do some shopping for me and then bring Possum home for Easter.  Who knows what I'll get up to while he's away............

Love the sound of your wheelchair path and seating area.

Hosta. I'm hoping soon to have electricity, running water in the right places, AND central heating (just in time for it to be turned off).

I keep thinking since its International Womens Day I ought write something deep and meaningful from the perspective of someone who has been a race mechanic working on classic vehicles, whipped out more engines from Triumphs than are probably on the road right now (don't worry I put them back too), designed, installed, and maintained pneumatic systems responsible for so many things we use today (and Walkers crisps), I've been the only woman in offices for most of my career (aside from the odd cleaner or receptionist), been involved in the design of oil refineries where it was too dangerous to even think of sending me (due to the cultural beliefs of the area and the high price tag a white female can generate in hostage situations)....

But honestly. If some nice chap could open the door for me, not expect an intellectual conversation (its been a hard week so far), and instead give me a back massage, box of chocolates, and tell me not to worry my pretty little head about anything other than getting a fat rump due to excessive chocolate consumption I'd be so grateful right now.

Feels like I'm letting the side down! But honestly I've been so lucky that I was born not with looks but with a quick wit and skin as thick is an ox that was able to manipulate the sexism I experienced to my advantage (okay so the time I put a diuretic in the bosses drink when he insisted I make the tea because I was a woman was a little childish but it kept him out of the office so I could do the job I was there for so technically it was a win?)

Clari if its of any help I put dimmer switches on my overhead downlights, never regretted it. I hope you left a surprise behind all that plasterboard, e.g. Here lies ..........?

Hosta - for the last few days it pours down in the morning making the lawn too wet to walk on, out and then the sun comes out for the afternoon but it's still too wet underfoot to do anything much out there.image

It looks as if the weather has been better down in Suffolk ... I've seen a photo of Wonky's new pergola image
