"I am plant mad and have too many" and so say most of us! Retirement will give you plenty of time to plan and reorganise.......I'm still doing that after many years of retirement. Enjoy
Hello and welcome Plantmaiden hope you enjoy a fabulous retirement in your garden! Lots of friendly people with great advice and ideas to share on this forum lots of threads to look at, one of the daily chitchat ones is hello forkers which is a great place to meet everyone.
It's good to see I'm not the only person with a massive project in hand!
We moved into this house in December 2016. The garden we inherited has large mature trees at the bottom creating a shady woodland feel, but the top is sloping, compacted and mostly gravel with a couple of shrubs And several sheds which I think we could just lean o to knock down.
I have big plans and have been studying the internet feverishly to work out what we want.
Thankfully I have found a lovely local landscape gardener who has just recently teamed up with a plantsman. Between us this year ,starting on Thursday , we are smashing up concrete bases, putting up a trellis around the whole garden, digging wide terracing down the top half with boardwalks surrounded by beds, building a nicer shed/workshop And by autumn I should be able to get some planting done (although I guarantee I will have done some because I won't be able to wai!) There's going to be a fernery in shady spots and a fire pit with seating down in the woodland area.
at the same time we are ripping out and doing the bathroom in the house. It's going to be hectic, but we are getting married next August and having the reception here. I've just potted up 19 Dahlias to bulk up for big day!
gosh it seems almost overwhelming now I see it written dow. Thankfully it will happen in stages
