@Logan4, l have left dried cat biscuits for two days - they have usually gone after that !
I would have thought that if it's dry it should be alright for 3 or 4 days.
Unless the light is really bright or close, you should be okay to put it on. Hedgehogs don't have the best eyesight,  l have found that they don't react at all if l switch our outside light on  :)

I have switch on a torch to see if they were there and they just keep on feeding. They are funny either getting into the feeding bowl or into the water bowl and drinking, thank goodness I put pebbles and shingle in there for them to stand on. Someone was very hungry tonight I put fresh food out an hour ago and it's gone, or maybe it was more than one. Piggies. I've noticed they don't blink and as their eyes are very dark it hard to see, do they have a second eyelid? and when they sleep do they closed their eyes? I only ask this as when we went to remove the slab one of them appeared to be looking at us and as they have poor eyesight maybe they don't need to close their eyes.

I too have a garden light which I switch on to see if they are there, and they take no notice and continue eating.
My food ( a saucer full) is always gone by morning, as I know ( from night camera) that my hog comes back up to four times a night over a 7 hour period .

Last night he came back 3 times, unless there were more than 1.

Having filled up the dish last night I came down this morning to find not only was it empty but had been overturned. I wasn't up all night watching so I don't know if it was a Hedgehogs doing or some other animal. If it was the hedgehog do you think it was trying to tell me they wanted more food put out lol.

My hoggie plays with his dish too.😁
  • We often find an upturned water dish, never sure if it was a hog or other animal tipping the aluminum dish though. On the odd occasion when we have left the hog food dish out all night it is usually upturned and empty - hog, cat, rat or bird.....?

Just been watching the Hedgehogs on the lawn then all of a sudden there they were on the patio. Sorry about the stuff in the background but it's still to be sorted for the Greenhouse. If you look very carefully you can see the baby on the far side of the small dish.

purplerallim, I know we couldn't believe our luck. I'll clear the stuff on the patio tomorrow. Tomorrow night I turn the lounge lights out and open the patio window and see if they come again I'll hopefully get some better photo and put them on here. They are so so cute  <3
