Last year my lobelia took 6 weeks to germinate then grew slowly so this year sowed earlier and in 10 days it's grown like cress, all in the same conditions very strange.
Sweetc peas and snapdragon lucky lips been growing nicely in the propagator. The peas have outgrown it so will take them out. I have a few more propagators and some seeds to sow. Was going to do it today but it hasn't stopped raining yet!
Tigrah - your snapdragon seedling are starting to get leggy, they need more light. The heat from the propagator helping to accelerate growth but there isn't enough light ( growth increases alot even without extra heat ), so the seedling go looking for light that how they get leggy. Take them out of the propagator and transfer them to a bright windowsill for now.
Not all seeds need a propagators sweet peas will happy grow on a windowsill / greenhouse / cold frame, it will give you more space then for other seedling which need more heat like petunia's etc .
Most seedling which have gone leggy can be potted upto the first set of leaves. I dont mean to lecture just trying to help

Yeah, I planned to only have them in the propagator until theyou sprouted, it's the firest time I've used a propagator ams wanted to try it out they started to sprout two days before this picture and now they all seem to have sprouted and have now been taken out. The propagator is actually on the sunniest windowsill in my house, but over here we've suddenly had 5 days of nothing but cloud and I've had my lights on most of the day!
I sowed the same Scabiosa as you have JamesO, I started them in autumn and they have overwintered in cold frame, lovely plants, ive just sowed some Scabiosa Black Night so I'm hoping for the same success.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
Hi amy, what a brilliant idea to start seeds on wet paper.I have some questions for you please: what do you do with the sprouted seedlings on the tissue papers? How long do you leave them on the paper before you transfer the seedlings into a pot^seedtray? Do you pick them out with your fingers?
Tigraph: Your sweetpeas are something! This is a lovely thread!
Only about 2 or 3 days ago that I seeded the sweetpeas. Thank you to the person who sent me such fresh and viable seeds. Once they hit water and a bit or warmth, they sprouted.
Here is my dandy dahlia seeds. I could have a dahlia farm soon!
