gardengirl. I sowed the phlomis last autumn and they've been in an unheated polytunnel all winter. They started popping through about a week ago. More appearing each day now.

It certainly is addictive Peter image. Your garden will be overflowing with colour this summer, with the added satisfaction of growing it all yourself. Your saved snapdragons are looking good ?. Free seed is great ?.

Here are my hardy lot sown 7 days ago.....

    image

Left to right: salvia horminum, a row of pink, a white & a purple. These are from saved seeds from last years plants, I'm not sure if they will grow true to colour from the parent plants. Larkspur, a no show as yet. Godetia, a good germination. Finally some aquillegia, one tiny sprout up.

    Next is my purple/blue lot...

    image

Delphiniums, a no show. Echium just peeping through.  Phacelia, looking good.  Cantanache, starting to emerge. A lavendar coloured Phlox, only just breaking the seed cases. And finally cornflowers are looking strong and healthy.

The lobelias I started in the propagator are doing well since potting on to a module tray. I've found that using the micro plug tray initially has made for neat little clumps.

    image

Others 'off the heat' and potted on from micro trays are a red salvia "blaze of fire", and marigolds

More stuff still in the propagatorimage, I'll post pics once they're out and potted on.

    Happy growing ????

Aubergine and chilli seedlings growing nicely under a grow light. I need to move them out to the greenhouse soon as I'd like to start off tomatoes and cucumber and when they germinate they'll need the light.

Hi Gardengirl,  I've got a no show from the delphiniums either, same thing last year.

You can see the empty row on the far left of the tray.  All was sown on the same day and put on the shelf in the conservatory.

Same story with the larkspur in the middle of this one, and only one aquilegia on the far right.

The growing conditions in the conny should be similar to an unheated greenhouse I guess (but with double glazing). Lots of light but no extra heating. Think I'm going to give up trying delphs and stick to what works well for me. Last years larkspur was disappointing, so another one on the bin list if it doesn't buck up.

Success from some of the new varieties this year though.

Here are the rest of my seedlings and a peep in the propagator.

Just the chillies in there now and some herbs I sowed a couple of days ago.

I need to get a move on and start pricking out, a nice reminder from flowerlady how one tiny pot of seedlings can take up lots of space once potted on. They look very good.

Tomato's coming on nicely Ado Annie, you can bury them "up to the shoulders" when you next pot them on. I haven't even started mine yet, need more space.  Think its time to clear out the greenhouse for operation outside.

    Happy growing to all ??
