Fine day for gardening but have email notice of a parcel being delivered from Royal mail so will have to stay close to house. i think it may be my magnolia trees. I had some tree seeds from the Woodland Trust which had already germinated in the post! Who would have thought trees were that easy but then given its freedom Britain would be covered in trees in very little time!
Just run out to sniff my apricot ones for you Joyce and they do have a slight perfume! Nothing like as strong as the blue ones though they may smell stronger if indoors. They are in full flower now and a lovely colour which goes well with the gold of daffodils.
I think dark blue hyacinths tend to have the strongest perfume. 'Ostara' is one of my favourites.
You're absolutely right about Britain returning to woodland if given the opportunity, Marion. The steeply-sloped area of parkland behind our house is covered in mainly oak woodland - but a friend who grew up here said it was just grass in the 1960s. And my garden is full of germinating sycamore seeds - and I mean "full"!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
You too GWRS. I came in for some coffee and to open my post and my friend had sent me his Petits Fours fron the Master's Circle dinner he went to last week in Oxford. They were called Bakewell Macaroon, Mint chocolate cream and White chocolate and Bailey's fudge on the scrumptious looking menu! What a reward for a hectic morning's gardening!

Marion, do your apricot ones have any trace of perfume? They are such a lovely colour.
Too windy here to spend any time in the garden. I get Yew seedlings, courtesy of the birds, and pot them up. One has has to be topped at 6 feet.
Good afternoon , just come in from repotting stuff in g/h , may cut lawns this afternoon
Joyce thanks for info will have to give it a try , nice pictures
I got some Tree seeds from Woodland trust as well , just potted them up

Liri I could have made a fortune over the years selling sycamore, ash and chestnut trees if people had wanted to buy them.
Good morning all , another lovely day , going to allotment shortly
