I have two pots with pale blue violets flowering their socks off and smelling delightful. i bought three plants last year and put one in the border right at the front but cannot find it now! I used to have wild violets in the garden but they are not showing either. I think they prefer shade and do not like drying out. Your best bet is probably from seed and keep a few back to grow on in pots like me. I am amazed how big a plant I have for one year's growing. Hope that helps Joyce. Their smell is to die for.
Temperature gradually creeping up so should be able to get out in the garden soon as it is dry and bright and no rain forecast till this evening. Daffodils here I come ( well after my coffee).
Oh my I have one tough job on! My 50 eranthis in the green have just arrived from Sarah Raven. They are tiny, even for an alpine gardener. I shall plant them ten at a time, first ten already done using a dessert spoon instead of a trowel! They all have tiny buds on so will have the flowers soon. Right off to do the second ten! This is one time when being petite with tiny hands is a blessing!
65, yes 65 aconites now planted in the green. I had 15 extra! But it as just lovely weather for it and we have rain to settle them in forecast for tonight.

!0 degrees on my garden thermometer so warm enough for just a jumper and rugby trousers. Everything is growing apace now.
