Just a quick update - and thanks for all advice re the dreaded Plantar Fasciitis: I haven't tried the cold bottle yet - but even the rolling pin is showing some signs of improving the condition. Fingers crossed it's not a false dawn (but I shall persist).
DHR - I just love it. The lights really do make Christmas extra special.
We have a "village" of David Winter cottages which we have lit with LED lights that also work on a timer. With a snow effect and the little lights, it really does look quite festive.
I also have some Ladro figurines (inherited from MiL) and light those - an angel with a crib, figures like a shepherd, another with a little pig in her arms. Not a full-blown nativity, but a nod to the meaning of Christmas, and I just love it.
Unfortunately, I can't get the camera to take a decent pic of either - you'll just have to take my word for it
aym - I bought similar lights this year from our local garden centre. Not expensive at all and came either warm white, blue, or multicoloured. Used them to weave through a fake poinsettia hanging basket-ball-thingy and they set it off nicely
Thanks for congrats clarice673 and DHR, been to see the little chap tonight he absolutely adorable
DHR, I have these lights on my metal trees, they a brill .Wire's virtually invisible. Can hardly see it on my trees, the lights are very bright. I got my first lot from the garden centre £9.99 they take 3 AA batteries, but the last lot we bought we got off eBay. These take 4 batteries but they are remote control. Just go on eBay and put in remote control fairy lights. We got 2 sets for £10.
Here's another thread I've missed through being too busy!
I've been planting bulbs, especially tulips, Christmas shopping (not finished yet), writing Christmas cards (not finished yet) and helping to organise 2 English Carol Services in Dordogne. One was yesterday. I made 105 mince pies for it and 10L mulled wine. A friend helped me to make 24 bunches of greenery to tie on the pews.
Now that's over I'm having a look around the forum. Thought I must post on here so that when all the photos are sent in of decorations and trees I won't miss them!
My tree is still in the garage, bought it on Friday. We used to decorate in on 13th December as it was first OH's birthday, but we do it a bit later now. I will hang lots of bling from the ceilings. My turn to have the family, 9 grandchildren. Hard to squeeze them all, although this is a big old farmhouse. There are usually babies in cots in bathrooms! 2 more due in May!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
