aym - I'm not sure that I do miss the buzz of London tbh. It's not the same city that it used to be. Yes, it's more cosmopolitan, but I have got out of the habit of crowds and hop-skipping-and-jumping around all those tourists (often with huge back packs that they swing round!) who stand gawping at their surroundings and generally getting in the way.
I was working there as the new Covent garden was being redeveloped. That was quite exciting and, of course, the exorbitant prices charged these days for a cup of coffee just because it is Covent Garden, hadn't been invented at that time!
Berwick Street Market was in Soho - not as fashionable as now, and still a bit risqué. But a dynamic street market that catered for Londoners rather than tourists. I wonder what it would be like today?
And then there were all those little streets and backways that had survived the Blitz, and were fabulous if you knew your way round. You could buy all sorts of bits and bobs at reasonable prices - I bet it would be a different story today.
And I certainly don't miss the commute on the underground - never a seat, packed in like sardines and sharing your personal space with all sorts! I think I prefer to rusticate down here in Devon.
aym: rolling pin not as easy as it looks - but I will persist! Also aim to get the magnesium and B5 tomorrow. Here's hoping for good results.
btw I looked up Berwick Street Market: I quailed when I saw that is now the home for "concept traders". The heart of it seems to have been ripped out. Along with Camden Passage. And so many other parts of a vibrant city. Oh, well, it seems I'm just getting old(er)!
I too have suffered plantar Fasciitis Was once in comany when the subject came up and a surgeon of great renown almost cried reciting the pain he suffered. He blamed years of standing on concrete operating floors.
I am blessed with a physiotherapist in the family and she told me not to use a rolling pin but a glass bottle filled with ice cold water, that was the right size for my foot. Also she "lent" me what looked like a whoopee cushion like a hedgehog that I had to roll my feet on.
i also took up Pilates and got my back and hips straight which has, of course, helped my feet!
good luck, it really doesn't last forever , take heart!

I do like simple coloured themed for Xmas. Mine have been red and gold for years with simple soft white lights. We like to go to Xmas markets and find something new each year and I do buy replacement baubles in the sales so I always have spares but this year the tree is half the usual size so we'll be fine.
Other than those I have special tree ornaments picked up in Brussels, Leuven, Liège, Bonn, Cologne and other smaller German markets. I rather hope to have time to make more of my own decs for next year, including some patchwork table runners and maybe a wall hanging.

Thanks Missy Krissy and clarice673. They may have to go in the conservatory next year my daughter has just recently told me she's expecting. Baby is due round May June time. I'm going to be a nannar.
Oh congratulations to you.....?????????????. I was told last night I was going to be a granny again as well lol...(no1 son and g/friend, they had a miscarriage earlier in the year) so fingers crossed all goes well this time round. Best Christmas present ever! ???
Congratulations Clarice & Paula, what wonderful news for you both, and yes that is the best Christmas present anyone could wish for - a happy, healthy baby. No such luck here, one daughter married but vowed not to have children and the other would like some but partner doesn't, so they got a kitten instead!
No decorations here yet, although I am itching to put them up but we don't until week or two before Christmas. Still writing cards and lots more shopping for gifts to do yet.

Hi Shrinking Violet,
