Yes Hosta, your mother was right. I have restrained myself from rushing out to plant, although of course I want to. I would rather wait until we have had some rain for the soil to compacted and find it's natural level. In the meantime I am taking a final look at my plant plan (which is in my head), trying to put it down on paper now.
That's looking fantastic GD - what a wonderful gift to nature and I'm sure will give you endless pleasure too while you're resting your back.
Now the weather's warmed-up a lot I'm getting back to sorting my little w/l pond. Will follow your progress with great interest and look forward to some pics of the big 'switch-on'

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
It has been quite an undertaking Pete8 and in many ways I envy you your more manageable project - but I am sure once it is all switched on and running smoothly we will enjoy the results of many hours of hard work and dithering too. I must give credit to the garden company men who have done a great job of dressing the edges.
Fantastic, GD! What a project! I know it has been really hard work and messy and a worry but you have come through it all and now you are on to the really enjoyable part. Congratulations to you and OH on your fortitude and success.
Oh that's sweet Posy and thanks for all the other kind messages and yes, you are right - I am going to wait to do the planting. I have a few other smaller projects on the go at the moment, and want to see them further along before I start on the pond.
The big switch on is on Monday - to see whether it all comes together with no overflows or flooding. Fingers crossed for that, but the nice pond men will be here to fix any problems. In the meantime I am going through the list of plants available from the long list I have made. For those who kindly offered me some plants - I think I will have to say no - however the gestures were kindly received.

More pictures next week.

Looking so good GD - I'm getting excited for the Monday switchon
The pond looks really great, can't wait to see the pictures of the finished pond, looking forward to seeing how you plant it up too!
Good luck with it all GD. Glad you got the men to do the hard work after your fall. It's not worth risking another injury.
Looking forward to your switch on and seeing it all taking shape over the summer
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
It's a pity you can't sell tickets for us to come and see the "switch on". you could have recouped part of the cost
