Whilst lying on my back on the concrete slabs that I stupidly managed to fall onto whilst standing on a small step ladder a few weeks ago and wondering if I would ever be able to walk again, I realized that life was too short to be carrying heavy granite boulders around when I really didn't know what I was doing with them. Therefore I decided to call in some expert pond builders to finish off the pond landscaping. Expensive, yes, but well worth their weight so far. What do you think? The first picture was taken before I fell, the second taken today - they will be returning for a few more days yet, but I feel they have made a good start.
Yes, I am o.k. now thanks, but I am wary of using my back too much, especially for lifting heavy objects. I have had back problems since a car crash (drunk driver - no not me!) about 20 years ago, and it doesn't take much for it to ache or "put out of kilter" again. I hadn't thought of it that way Joyce, but yes, you are right about the physio costs.
I can't wait to see it finished either Beausmum. After we had virtually emptied all the water yesterday evening a little water boat man was seen swimming at the very bottom of the pond. The first of many I hope.
Yes, it is progress, and they have now gone off site until Monday.
The big switch on is probably Monday or Tuesday, but they have given the go ahead for me to start planting around the borders whenever I want - do I want - what do you think, after waiting since October!?!

Not this time Hostafan1 - just the rubber variety luckily!
I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread, but can anyone give me a pond planting guide please.
The pond is 17 cubic metres or 17,000 litres. How do I calculate the amount of plants that I need for this size?
remember you've a mild climate GD. "Suck it and see" is how I planted mine and I ended up removing a lot.

Looking good GD
Just think what the cost of long term physio could have been for your back and it may seem cheap in comparison.
I think you did the right thing and it will look amazing, cant wait to see it completed
hope you are ok after your fall ?

So when is the big switch on?

As my dear late mother would have said : " Act in haste: repent at leisure"
I'd wait until they've totally finished and moved off site , when you , and they are satisfied that's it "done"
