imageNot a great picture, but an up-to-date picture of the pond - still planting in the pond and gradually arranging the small pebbles around the edges. The plants are beginning to spread out around the perimeter and we have seen our first dragonfly, damsel flies, water boatmen and pond skaters.  No frogs yet, but plenty of birds bathing in the moving water. Certainly worth all the toil, sweat and bad words.

Thanks, and we are Joyce. At lunch time today we had a lovely "normal" looking dragon fly which laid eggs on one of the plants and a red dragon fly which I had never seen before. It is fun to watch the birds and restful too - in fact it is so restful that I find it hard to work in any other part of the garden .....!

  • Some of our early visitors to the pond and wild flower area.imageimageimageBlue tailed damselfly, Emperor dragonfly and Great Green Bush Cricket.

  • imageimageimageWe may be having problems with the water balance, but these visitors don't seem to be bothered by it.

How lovely GD.  The birds are certainly enjoying the pondimage

  • Thank you, but not be too quick to praise Philippa - we have a problem with the water reading and some of the plants are either struggling or dying in the water - it is so frustrating.

However we are really enjoying the wildlife visits - no foxes, badgers or squirrels here in Guernsey but the insects and birds are certainly enjoying the moving water.  The birds come for food during the morning and in the evening they are bathing in the moving water - it's brilliant.
