  • Hello GuernseyDonkey2, the bird man is fine, just don't put crazy in front. lol

Yes they are very sharp looking little woodpeckers in late fall and winter, during the summer they look rather scruffy and dirty.

    Hey crazy bird man!  :D
It's lovely to see the pix Johnny. I think most of us are very jealous of the way the birds eat from your handlike that when most of us have to content ourselves with watching from a distance, lovely though that is  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hello Fairygirl, I'm happy that you and others enjoy seeing my birds.

The goldfinches are scouring the garden for seeds today. The feeders are full but they seem to want some variety in their diet. I grabbed the camera to try and catch one doing the splits between 2 strands of self-heal while it picked the seeds from the spent heads but missed the chance. I finally snapped it on one of the teasels though. With a beak that sharp and an expression that fierce I'm glad these guys aren't bigger. :#

I cleared some rotting apples out of the storage racks in the garage this weekend too and they're being much appreciated by the blackbirds.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • What a great picture wild edges, was he posing especially for the camera?  This is something colourful to cheer up a dull November day (here).

    Lovely birds everyone.
I have blue and great tits, blackbirds, robin, house sparrows and hedge sparrows. 1 male chaffinch, 1 coal tit, haven't seen goldfinches yet, don't see greenfinches anymore. Seen a jay and magpie.
Also have a squirrel that eat the seeds sometimes when the peanuts run out.

  • That's a cool feeding station in the first picture Logan.

Thank you Johnny, hubby had to rebuild the table bit, because it was rotting.
  • No one much coming to my feeders,a few Robins, who I think are the offspring of our resident pair as they dont fight!  Lots of Starlings, and various Tits and Sparrows.   No Green or gold finches though.

The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
