  • What beautiful visitors you have Johnny canoe - those markings are so pretty.  We have nothing so stunning visiting ours - just lbj (little brown jobs), a few lovely goldfinches and if we are very lucky a kingfisher comes to check if we have added any fish into our pond yet - no tasty meal for him!

    Johnny: Love your big bird!
  • Hello GurnseyDonkey2 and STAE,
Yes, those partridges are my favourite visitors. Huge Jack rabbits eating the spilled seed at night.

    Beautiful photos again Johnny.
I put out a bird feeder filled with the "fluff" collected from the filter on the tumble dryer (someone had mentioned it on the forum some time ago) and it had all gone within 24 hours.

I haven’t caught anything using our new feeder yet, the birds are enjoy the dig up soil too much I think. But at night something empties the tray of seeds.

Had some new arrivals this week, long tailed tits, never had them before, on the insect suet balls. Perhaps my low intervention gardening is paying off in a rise in insect numbers as this is what they need :)
  • How nice for you Buttercupdays, they are gorgeous little birds and such a trill to start seeing them in your garden.  Unfortunately our new bird visitors are herring gulls - lots of them.  The smallest of my bird seeds and of course the fat balls and other fatty treats are of great interest to these gulls.  Grrrrrr!
