Yes - really lovely to see such trust from wild birds, Johnny.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Agree with the above, it must be an amazing feeling to have wild birds feed from your hand, keep the pictures coming, Johnny.

Here is a Robin from other day and quite a rare visitor to the garden, normally they just sit on next doors tree and belt out a tune or two.

Lovely just to see nuthatches here, but having them feeding from a hand is terrific Johnny. Must be a thrill no matter how often it happens  image

Detail on the feathers is fantastic Sheps image

My current one has been named Don Corleone. He sees off any bird that hacks him off, not just other robins. image

I think he wants rid of me too, if his swooping past me about an inch from my face a few weeks ago is anything to go by!

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks all, I really do enjoy my time feeding birds. It's -8C and snowing right now, the birds were crazy in my yard yesterday, they ate a lot, probably knowing we are in for a couple days of heavy snowfall.

Your little Robins are so cute! Ours are big, big eyed and bossy.

I wondered where the Mrs. Woodpecker had gotten to, hadn't seen her for a few months but she showed up for seed a couple days ago.imageimageimage

  • I like your multi-purpose mud flap, Johnny!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Thanks, I came up with the idea because I was looking at a way to feed the more nervous birds and not have the black squirrels run off with all the sunflower seed.

Mr & Mrs Wood Pigeon are constantly pacing up and down under my bird feeder, so much so that they have worn all the grass away and turned the area into mud. Ive had to move the feeder for a while, but its a shame as I like to be able to see it from the armchair in my living room....

  • I have had several different flocks of Cedar Waxwings visiting my yard this past week. The Robins and Black birds are back from their winter retreats. Still biking down to the river to feed bird a few mornings each week. Mr. and Mrs. Woodpecker love the suet block I bring along for them.
