I have had anlovly day in the garden. Potted up 4 new standard roses in Potts my sons got me for Mother's Day. Potted up a reduced fushia bush Tom Thumb I bought yesterday for the give away price of £3.50 for a healthy if a bit leggy plant. Potted up abound dozen dahlias which were shooting. Built my stumpers and planted 3 ferns to start if off. The stumps are from a beech and a gum tree I cut down last year. Planted my new climbing hydrangea at the side of my new but ugly shed and built a trellis for it to grow up out of some old pallet wood and garden plant support and had hanging around. Hopefully the hydrangea will cover the ugly side visible from the house. And last but not least planted some old planters that have seen better days with some old white paint. I wii spray them tomorrow with metallic paint and with a bit of luck they should be good for another year.

i am now cream crackered and trying to build up enough energy to go shower.?

Wow Sussexsun, busy day for you!

  • No gardening as such for me today, but I have been to the GC - and now I have a few more new plants to plant out in the coming week.

the sun was shinning so it makes working in the garden that much more enjoyable but still so much to do. I haven,t touched the lawn yet this year apart form where I have dug it up to enlarge existing beds.i keep telling myself there is no point as I am losing a lot of it when I have the patio enlarged in may. as it is the lawn is quite large but my oh has a bad grass alergy so I said I would reduce it so he can enjoy the garden more in summer. Not that he likes to garden but he will sit out there with a beer?

But I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and get the lawn mower out sometime this week.

    What did you buy Guernsey?

I went yesterday with my oldest lad. I love it when I can get one of my boys to go with me as they can hump bags of compost and push a second trolley with my reduced plant bargains.

  • Nice in the garden today. Seen a peacock butterfly on the drumstick prims and a wasp queen on the blackthorn, hopefully making some sloes. Loads of queen bumbles out as well, very positiveimage

I did a small amount of weeding and planted some things out from a delivery a few week back. Planted things in an uninspired, dullwitted way (spikes next to spikes, spring next to autumn) but they've been sat around for long enough.

Potted on some outdoor seedlings, sidalcea, Veronica gentianoides and seedlings from a white polemonium, I bet they're all blue. Put my other seedlings and cuttings in the sun.

Found my lamium orvala album, I'd planted a persicaria almost on top. Moved the lamium to under the kitchen window, that's quite a smashing spot for a nettle.

Studied a daffodil catalogue sent this week. Best time to plan for more daffs - that company doesn't miss a trickimage

Another lovely day in the garden, first decent weather for us this year.  Almost weeded all of my biggest bed and got about ten plants from last years stash planted.  Ache all over but a good ache image

Nothing other than a bit of pottering done in the garden here ... it was too cold in that east wind ... but we did go to the GC and came back with a car load of mulch and compost, some garden twine, three birthday cards and ....................................... two pulmonarias (they must've had sticky labels image)

That counts as gardening, doesn't it? image
