So pleased that your (weather) temperatures are now above zero Johnny, but as you say a white Christmas is a beautiful scene, one we don't often have here - probably 3 or 4 times in the past 60 years!
The weather has been extremely calm and sunny here today, and I am wondering if perhaps Barbara has taken a detour to Scotland - Joyce? However there was fog in London so no English post was flown over or delivered here today.
GD - calm with us at the moment Most ferry services to the islands are cancelled for tomorrow. The NW of Scotland is expecting gusts up to 90mph tomorrow night. It won't be so bad with us further south....probably about 50 - 60.
Oh Joyce, I feel for you being bashed about - we have a bit of wind here, but nothing too bad - about force 5/6 but the high speed ferry is cancelled from Poole/Portsmouth so plenty of frustrated Christmas holiday people stuck at the harbours.
Hasn't reached us yet in Cheshire but forcast to reach us by midday. That means it's late coming. Looking very grey and threatening though. Hope it's not too bad for you up in Scotland Joyce. My sister is named Barbara and I don't think she is very pleased about this hurricane bearing her name!

Some highland areas have snow.
In the last 25 years in Lincoln I can only remember 3 white Christmases
You surprise me GWRS - I thought you would get the cold Easterly wind with snow from Europe. Shows what I know about weather systems.....
Storm Barbara is approaching. . . very strong wind and lashing rain.
Worse to come.

I hope Barbara blows herself out quickly.
