Yesterday was -12 overnight, unheard of here, we are only 10 minutes from the sea.  When I go up at 6.30, tI had "warmed up" to a balmy -6, awful biting wind though, it managed to blow over a 5 foot close boarded fence panel, onto the conservatory, (no it wasnt installed, hubby had managed to put 13 of the panels up) Took the dogs out with my neighbour.  About 4 0 clock, felt chilly (very unusual for me, Mrs "hot flush") the heating had gone on at 17d, so I put it up to 20, nothing happened!  Hubby came in from work, checked pressure, the boiler, NOT LIGHTING, honestly, you couldnt make it up!  The coldest snap for years, luckily, we kept the wall heater in the bathroom, (as well as putting heated towel rail) everyone thought we were mad, there was enough hot water for him to have a shower, (works in a garage, filthy) and have a dimplex electric heater in the lounge which looks like a log burner, had that on full blast for a few hours last night. There apears to be an emersion heater in the airing cupboard, dont know if it works or is even wired up, there are wires going to the tank, will put it on and see if anything happens, at least then I could have a shower, last night washing up done with numerous kettles!  11d in the bungalow when I got up, yes thank you electric fire is now on!

Stockton, looked out onto the back garden it had disappeared the snow had drifted and at the back an estimated three feet deep. It is piled up against the shrubs and the greenhouse looks more like an igloo. The road front garden and paves are all one I hope no body thinks it all road. A confined to Barracks day me thinks.

    Frank.

Back to rain here. We had heavy snow last week, as I'm sure most of you did.

Beautiful sunny day here, cold windy, but glorious. Hardly any snow here, not enough to cover the patio.

The snow caused some problems traveling to Norfolk, late plane, night in a hotel, but we made it. There was more snow after we arrived and the Bergerac plane was cancelled so we were lucky.
This morning was sunny, then rain and very windy, sun back out now, still windy.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • We had 30cm of snow here in Calgary last week but the warm up has started. -3C today but will be +16C on Monday.
A few pictures along the river yesterday.
