Daughter and 3 sons have just gone. Peace reigns! But I did enjoy their visit. I think I've put on weight, jeans are tight, all those family meals.

My sister's grandson has Cystic Fibrosis. I need to get a genetic test done to see if I'm a carrier, my sister is. No one here seemed to know what to do and as soon as the hospital found out all the family descended so I haven't had time.

Feel tired now, think I might go and watch the Olympics, haven't had a chance yet.

You can watch it with me BL - there's plenty of room on this sofa - just don't sit on my knitting image

Are any of you who are living in France near the fires being reported on TV?

My daughter has just rung me to say she has heard on her car radio that there is a forest fire near me. I don't think that is the one you have seen as there are big fires near Marseilles in the South of France so they would have been on TV. The one here is about 7km away, 20 hectares of forest, but I think, with help from the army and other fire stations, that it's now under control. July has been very dry here, the promised thunderstorms hardly produced any rain.

Busy-L, I hope you're ok. Those dry storms are the worst because of lightning strikes. Keep alert and listen to your local radio station.  What type of forest - is it conifers or hardwoods?

  • Evening All,

Just a quickie (sorry always seem to say that these days). Been extremely busy lately -  but this afternoon Charlie and I had a celebration lunch in the garden of my new house, Charlie picked all the food in the supermarket, smoked salmon and pasta salad, doughnuts and an orange each. image I even got to dead head the roses, it was a beautiful sunny day. And tonight we are having a 'tester' night sleeping there - Charlie's idea, so I am very pleased with his enthusiasm. image He says it's like camping in a real bed. image He loves the huge tree in the garden because he can climb it and is very proud of the fact that he managed to help me carry the new (pre-loved) cooker into the house, bless him. I haven't quite worked out how to connect it but for now we are fine. No internet, no TV, just a few favourite story books, we are going to have a fun night. image

Right now I am stuck at B&B waiting for 7:00 pm arrivals and then we are off, bit fretful as it is 7:20 (French time) but hopefully they will be here soon. Finger crossed.

Busy Lizzie, hope you are safe and well away from the fire, everyone else sorry not time to catch up but hope all are well and thanks you for all the best wishes that have been sent my way. Starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. image

DD,  I take my hat off to Charlie image   I hope you both enjoy a comfortable night's camping and will soon be settled in to new house and garden.

LP, good to hear your pal is doing well and may manage a visit to you image

BL, let's hope the fires are contained soon and that you remain safe.

Tennis was a bit nerve racking earlier to say the least. Going to enjoy gymnastics now.
