Clari - no hedgehogs spotted here this year but we do usually have one around, with babies. Use dto have loads of bats but now I only ever see one flitting back and forth. Been like that for years so I don't know why he or she doesn't bring their pals to help hoover up the insects.

OOoooh...thank you Obelixx........just need the Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding and home grown roasted taters and my carrots!!! Oh heck, I'm hungry now and its eleven o'clock in the evening Hubby has made Redcurrant jelly, and Redcurrant and Cranberry Sauce with my Redcurrants-I managed a kilo of them this year, so Ch******s should be good! I have to make the Horseradish as he has made such an effort with the Currants.
Linda Taylor Wear goggles when peeling and grating horseradish root. When I was a child it was Pa's job to grate the horseradish on Sunday morning. I'll never forget the tears streaming down his cheeks and dripping off his RAF style moustache! Once grated Ma would put it in a jar and add just enough vinegar to saturate the horseradish. It would then keep in a cool place for a few months - becoming milder with time. To make the sauce Ma would put some horseradish in a small dish and add some single cream. Job done

Morning Dove. I just watched a lovely art history show called 'Apples, Pears and Paint'. I really enjoyed it and learned all sorts of interesting things.
