    Hello all.

I'm sitting here, mesmerised by the clarity of the picture on our telly now we can get HD - as OH remarked, you can count the beads of sweat on the athletes (should you so desire!).  Most things are packed for Ireland so I'm giving myself some time off this evening.

Hiking, camping and cooking strange things on a small fire, were my favourite things to do in the Guides, and I still love a good bonfire.  Haven't had one since we left Northumberland though - it's a bit antisocial in a town, even on the edge of the housing area - though I'm quite tempted to get an incinerator for a sly bit of pyromania...  image  Looking at the photos of huge wildfires in Madeira in the past week, it definitely pays to be careful.

    Lovely moon photo, Fairy.  image

Snap, Topbird - my shed is finished too.  image  Looking very smart, until you open the door.  image  But at least the junk is dry junk.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Went out and finished planting another dianthus and shifted some gravel round them. Don't think it was wise as I have a damaged rib on the left side now and it's a tad painful  image

The moon was stunning - my camera isn't good enough for that  kind of thing, but I could see it so clearly. Sky was really black. Were you howling T'bird? image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Great moon pic FG. Hope you haven't overdone it with your rib.

Topbird I often have trouble sleeping when there is a full moon and some of my friends say the same thing.

Obelixx, I can squeeze them into the dining room and the Veranda if it rains and the table on the kitchen terrace has a roof over it.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

OOoo FG. I once pulled the muscle over my ribs pulling a bramble and it took six weeks to get back to normal. Sneezing was a laugh and a half! image Be careful.

Evening all,  Feeling a bit worn out tonight.  Yesterday  we spent 10.30 - 4.30 at the zoo with the grandchildren, walked miles and Dudley is definitely not flat.  Today we took them to a local fair which involved spending ages queuing in the heat.  Came home and watered the garden and then spent quite a while in a very cool shower.  I think a relatively early night is called for.

Congrats to Chicklet, glad she did well.

Hope poorly cold people feel better soon.

Evening all. Dropped his lordship off in Sheffield at 19:00 and decided to take puppy for a walk at one of the many country parks nearby...

We walked for so long it got dark and we had to scrabble blindly to find where we'd parked the car. Brilliant fun though.

Only just got home at 22:25 so you can tell it wasn't a short walk! Now awaiting a call to go pick him up. Think it's a little late to do the cleaning.... oh shame ;)

Great photo, Clari.  The birds make it.  image

Thank you Liri. They felt so much closer in real life.

I've just had a text mentioning beer in steins... it's a good job he's out with work mates. I hope they've not got important meetings in the morning because he's a grumpy bugger when he's not had enough sleep!
