This patient fellow joined me on my nocturnal vine weevil hunt though so I guess not all hope is lost :)

    He (?) is beautiful.
  • Aquatic hoverfly larvae and what I assume to be snail faeces? My wildlife pond is finally attracting beneficial species! :D

@blueonion Are those not honey bees? Don't they go back to hive at end of day?

@Treeface I wasn't sure which type of bees there were (not honey).. so I looked them up: Long Horned Bees. Evidently the males spend their day cruising for chicks, and then the nights spent partying on flowers together.  What a life.

At dusk last night I was watching the adult fox who was watching the deer who was eating windfall apples. Then the fox cub joined in the fun and got too close when its curiosity got the better of it. The deer chased it round the apples trees until it ran for cover. The adult fox just sat shaking its head at the impetuous youth. Too dark for photos unfortunately but lovely to watch them getting on with their lives.
