How can you lie there and think of England

@LunarSea they are belting shots, Paul...really hoping some turn up close to home this year, I know there has been a sizable influx so far, but I'm hoping for a really harsh winter in Scandinavia to drive even more our way.

Quite a few reported in Yorkshire today, mainly north though:

    72 Helmsley
    40 Thirsk
    39 North Stainley
    30 Sheffield
<10 in both Bingley & Barnsley

I'm tempted to sign up to a bird sightings app just to get news of any local ones this year. When we had the last influx they turned up in my in-law's garden. I've still never seen one :|

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I have Birdguides Ultimate @wild edges , £80 a year and a great resource, all the latest news and coordinates via the app in Google maps to get you there.

    Well worth the small expense.

That looks just the job @Sheps is the magazine any good? I might have to have a word with Santa and see if he can hook me up. It can take me two weeks to book in a free day for solo bird watching though so hopefully the birds will be obliging and come to me. :#

Yes, the magazine is pretty good @wild edges it always has a great range of subjects, reviews and ID guides, plus a dedicated photography section.

The bird news service is very good, it goes more in-depth on the website as you can browse all the past and presents records / sightings.

The app is also good and very adjustable, allowing you to set what type of reports you receive, as in Mega, Rare, Scarce etc. etc. You can also set a Nearby section for reports close to home, handy incase you have any local Waxwings.

Here are some screenshots of the app.

I use the original & best - Rare Bird Alert. Similar price.

Lovely Lapwing @Sheps. You've even managed to capture that green/purple iridescence  B)
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

Thanks Paul...I was pleased with the Lapwing, and yes...RBA works equally well.

    Leucistic or albino?

Against the odds, white squirrels seem to be thriving in the UK
