I agree with, patricia...the parts with Monty and Carol were good, but the rest was just like watching a garden based version of Countryfile, with the same sort of format.
Adam's Garden = Adam's Farm
Gardeners' World Weather = Countryfile Weather
I will keep watching and see how next weeks show stacks up, for me, lets hope it improves.
I think it was an unqualified success and am really looking forward to the next one. The hour long formula is far superior and a massive improvement. Well done BBC!
Adam Frost is great and I look forward to seeing much more of him in the future but I'll admit to being rather jealous of his new blank canvas!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Stuff and nonsense from a lot of namby pamby whingers above. Crack open the booze and celebrate this small victory for the greenfingered over the tyranny of sport on tv. This is payback time for all the cancelled episodes back in the spring. Watching the sainted Monty and his hairy flock of dogs pottering whimsically round the garden is a great tonic after the weekly diet of global apocalypse.
I was especially pleased with the feature on containers for tiny front gardens. It's easy to forget that most people live in urban areas and may need a bit of inspiration to get them going. I was also glad to see a break from the standard male, white middle class presenter with a park sized garden. There are so many different people and spaces and interests in this country that GW does not always reflect. That said, I am also extremely jealous of Adam Frost. In another reality, that is my house and garden.
I missed the final 10 minutes but really enjoyed most of the rest of it. Not too sure about the section from Toxteth as any newbies might get the impression that you can just bung plants into a large container and leave it at that. No mention of filling the pots with compost, and the plants seemed to be very low in the pots as well.
I was concerned that there might be a lot of 'padding' to fill the hour but didn't think that was the case. Just give it time to settle to the new format before judging too much one way or t'other.

I absolutely LOVED it.
How does having a difference of opinion make me a "namby pamby whinger"
How dare I form an opinion that differs from the GWF masses, shame on me
Sheps...
I stayed awake! I enjoyed the whole programme and agree with every word Posy just said
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Loved it.
Lots of variety, more please.
I love my sport too, but surely we can fit in an hour a week of GW.
How about the odd special programme during the year as well?
When you don't even know who's in the team
