Saw a most beautiful felted shawl yesterday. The edge was trimmed with different coloured ribbons, and the owner / maker told us that they were the ribbons cut from various tops and knitwear, the ones that are sewn in the shoulder seams to aid hanging them up!
I always cut mine off, I don’t hang up jumpers, and find the ribbons a bit of a nuisance, especially if they end up somewhere visible. However, they are often rather nice colours, so I can’t bring myself to throw them away, but stuff them in a drawer in case I ever find a use for them. Food for thought?

I save them to make skirt and trouser hanging loops for when I sew new ones or buy jeans which never have them.

@Ergates. Mine usually keep company to all other bits of string I can't bring myself to throw away. This year though I used some white ones to hang a couple of baubles on the Christmas tree.
