    Joyce, my granny used to make hooked rugs like that, using "thrums" bought very cheaply from Yorkshire carpet mills.  We granddaughters would help her sort the wools into different colours, and she'd design a pattern accordingly.  I still treasure one of her rugs, probably 60 years old now - it used to be in front of her hearth when I was little.  Happy memories...

    Hazel- you could knit an abstract design for GS.  Get OH to draft it out on squared paper image

    The finished cardigan looks really nice and warm, Hazel. I imagine you are pleased to be shot of it.

    We’re in Canberra at the moment at Hubby’s Endodontost. Thankfully the iPad works or I’d be really bored.

    Sorry for taking so long to get back to you Hazel. Had a visitor and now I‘m getting a bit sleepy.

    yes, I agree that the iPad made a big difference and also meeting up with our son for lunch and then our daughter and 18 year old grandson on the way home was good.
