    Another fab idea Valley Gardner, if only I was still involved with my local Beaver Scout group I would of pinched your idea towards the Art and Craft badge. Still I can have a go with my grand-daughter she's in Brownies having just moved back from Florida. Thanks

    @Valleysgirl
    Its just basically papiermache,which was stuck with gluey water and left to dry overnight.  I did a bit of smoothing out next day with Gesso, its good to fill in the bits that are "untidy"as you can almost sculp with it, big tub for a fiver, from The Works.
    Ive covered a Sketch book in a similar way,I should think those little wooden boxes would work with it too. The light gold I just smooth over with my fingers.
    Yes it would be a great one to earn a badge in Brownies😊 Those were the days.

    I wondered if the jar would look lovely with a candle inside... is it opaque?

    I used to love the blackberry flower fairy as she looked a little like me around aged six, with a mass of curly hair and dirty knees. It was quietly thrilling.

    This is my small jar house from last year.

    I covered the jar well and truly @Fire, and put some pencils in it,so a candle wouldn't show,but I like your idea of leaving little windows,and possibly a part open door. Ive seen elegantly shaped wine bottles covered too. Crumpled tissue gives a good effect as well.
    I like the fairy,werent we sweet back in the day?😊
